Building on our discussion about the scarcity of men, I have a further observation regarding the botanical section. Many plants in the VMS appear to be 'hybrids' or composite figures—where the root system of one species seems intentionally joined to the stalk or flowers of another.
I believe this represents a lost system of compound medicine used to treat major diseases that have since vanished or evolved. From my perspective, these plants might have been part of an ancient ecological wisdom that was 'hidden' or 'withdrawn' from humanity, leaving the VMS as a prophetic manual for a future era when these diseases—and perhaps these plants—return.
To me, the VMS isn't just a record of what existed in the 1400s; it is a repository of lost knowledge meant for a time of great global need. I would be very interested to know if your visual analysis has found other examples where such 'impossible' root-to-flower grafts might actually be symbolic 'recipes' for medical formulas -

That only shows that the Scribe who put the text to vellum was European.
It does not even imply that the VMS was written in Europe.
That internal evidence says nothing about the Author (who chose the contents, devised the alphabet, drafted the text, etc.) While the Scribe may have been the Author himself, there is some evidence that they were distinct persons, and that the Scribe knew the alphabet but did not understand the text.

I’ve been spending more time analyzing the Biological and Zodiac sections, and I’d like to share some new thoughts that connect the manuscript’s imagery with Islamic eschatology (signs of the End of Times). I believe the manuscript is more than just a medical book; it’s a vision of a shifting world.
1. The Mystery of the "Disrespectful Child" (Folio 80r)
Look closely at the top left of folio 80r. There is a small boy pulling a nymph’s hair. In my culture and faith, one of the major signs of the end of the world is a total breakdown in family respect—specifically where children begin to treat their mothers with disdain or like servants. This image perfectly captures that prophecy. It’s not just a random drawing; it’s a depiction of "moral reversal."
2. The Green Pools vs. The Flow of Sin (Folio 82v)
I previously mentioned that the interconnected pipes and pools represent the "normalization of sins" and how easily information (and corruption) flows in the final era. However, notice the green liquid in some pools, like on folio 82v.
I believe this represents "Alkhairi" (virtue/goodness). In the midst of a world where morality is "flowing" away, there are still channels of light. Green is a sacred color representing life and paradise. This suggests that even when society decays, there will be a group of people still spreading truth and goodness through those same channels.
3. The Gender Imbalance
As many of you, including Jorge Stolfi, have pointed out, men are almost non-existent in this book. This fits the "End of Times" narrative perfectly, where women will significantly outnumber men. The manuscript shows a world dominated by the "Field" (the female element), while the "Seed" (the male element) has diminished.
I see the VMS as a mirror of human life and its eventual transformation. I’d love to hear if anyone else sees these ethical "color-codes" in other folios!

After further analysis of the biological and cosmological sections, I have reached a profound conclusion. I believe this manuscript is not just a medical or botanical book; it is a visionary warning about the End of Times (The Last Era) and the spread of Fitna (Global Turmoil).
1. The Competition of Tall Buildings (Folio 86v - The Rosettes)
In the upper-right medallion of the Rosettes map, there are distinct drawings of tall, tower-like structures. This aligns perfectly with the prophecy that in the final era, people will compete in building tall structures. I believe this medallion represents the East, where the Great Fitna is predicted to emerge before spreading globally.
2. The Pipes: Networks of Corruption
The complex network of pipes connecting the medallions represents the modern channels of communication and influence. Through these "pipes," corruption and moral decay flow from one region to another. They are not just for water; they are the vessels for the rapid spread of global turmoil.
3. Dajjal and the Trap of Entertainment (Folio 116v)
I believe the strange creature on the final page (f116v) symbolizes the Dajjal (The Deceiver). His greatest weapon is the use of music, dancing, and entertainment to distract humanity. Today, we see a world obsessed with music and constant distraction, which blinds people to the truth of their reality.
4. Nudity and Drowning in Sin (The Biological Section)
The numerous naked nymphs (f75r, f80r) represent the loss of modesty and the normalization of indecency in the final era. They are depicted dancing and bathing in these pools without fear, even as the "water of sin" consumes them. They are so distracted by the music and entertainment that they do not realize they are being trapped in a cycle of moral destruction.
5. The Illusion of Escape and the Green Pools
When observing those who try to "escape" the pipes (f79v), we see they often just move from one pipe to another. This represents the deceptive nature of modern trials—one thinks they have escaped one distraction only to fall into another. The only true safety is found in the Green Pools (f82v), which represent the Path of Goodness. Only those who remain in the "Green" (purity and righteousness) are protected from drowning in the global Fitna. -
