  Yes, I’m sure it’s simple. 
  No one is stopping me from assuming that VMS is Old Berber, creating an alphabet at random to replace EVA, and then changing it to my liking whenever I need to... But I won't do it.

  Nevertheless, in your case, the concept of a “successful result” is rather subjective. Are multiple options for a single word that is not related to the text considered success?

  You mention Gerard Cheshire's name quite often; I don't understand exactly why. 
  Cheshire doesn't assign the same phonetic values to the Voynich glyphs as I do, so why make comparisons?
  And I don't think he managed to translate the entire text.

  Firstly, his proto‑Romanic theory was of a linguistic nature, meaning that, in a sense, he is your "colleague".
  Secondly, for me personally, it is the pinnacle of all linguistic theories. His approach is no different from others — you take a word, translate it in your own way, and find similarities. 
  The only thing is that you do this with Greek. Others do it with their own languages.
  And let’s not forget about Cheshire’s “success” in his theory

  Word EVA cheeaiin
  There are two occurrences of the word EVA cheeaiin in the manuscript, on pages 83v and 86v6.
   
  This word can be read as kuaun and corresponds to two forms: κυων and χειων.
  While χειῶν, the plural genitive of χειά, has only one meaning, lair of a wild beast, particularly a hole where snakes hide, the word κυων has several.
  Word κύων, ὁ and ἡ :

  • dog, bitch; of shepherds’ dogs; when of hounds, mostly in fem; watch-dogs;
    
  • as a word of reproach;
    
  • metaph., of persons, watch-dog, guardian;
    
  • of the Cynics;
    
  • in Mythology of the servants, agents or watchers of the gods;
    
  • dog-fish or shark;
    
  • = σείριος, dog-star, i.e. the hound of Orion;
    
  • the ace, the worst throw at dice;
    
  • frenum praeputii;
    
  • fetlock of a horse;
    
  • unilateral facial paralysis;
    
  • =ἀπομαγδαλία – the crumb or inside of the loaf, on which the Greeks wiped their hands at dinner, and then threw it to the dogs: hence, dog’s meat;
    
  • =κυνόσβατος – whiterose, Rosa sempervirens ;
    
  • piece in the game of πόλεις.
    

  Word κυῶν :

  • pl gen of κύος = κύημα – that which is conceived, embryo, fœtus; in Botany, that which is swollen as the result of growth, e.g. base of flower-head;
    
  • part pres of κύω/κυέω – in pres. and impf., of females, conceive; to be pregnant with; Pass., of the embryo or foetus, to be borne in the womb; in aor. of the male, impregnate; in Botany, produce flowers.
    

  Another source of variation may be the transcription itself: the word cheeaiin on page 83v makes me think more of cheeoiin, that is, κυουν.
  The word κυοῦν is the present participle or 1st sg/ 3rd pl imperfect of κυέω.
  Could this be a sign that, among several possible meanings, we must choose the verb?

  This could be a plus in favor of your theory, but for now I still can’t understand how the VMS text is related to Greek. Your transformations don’t look like a cipher, and the comparison with letters is sometimes ambiguous.
  
  And I see a small nuance here... Although you translated it as scammony, you have an illustration in front of your eyes depicting a plant that looks similar to it. One could first see the similarity to the scammony, and then confirm it using one’s own theory. This isn’t a reproach, but I just want to remind you that in such cases there’s room for bias.
  
  I can do something similar. Let’s assume that Voynichese is encrypted Latin. Let’s take f33r. The first words of the page are tarar daiin. The Latin name for the sunflower (according to the translator) is Messier. We can see that there are coincidences: Messier and tarar daiin. We acknowledge that i and n are the same letters and are equal to e. The letters m, i, and r remain undeciphered; in theory, they should correspond to the letters t, d, and ai.
  
  What am I getting at? The point is that the entire analysis is not focused on deciphering, but on finding similarities with a specific word.

  You've described quite well the method that I think all substitution researchers use in their work.
  You're just missing the description of the next step: applying your findings to other words in the manuscript to see how many words conform to your rules—10, 100, 1000, 10,000? (Just kidding, there are fewer than 8,000 words in total.)

  The nuance of the method I described is that, by definition, it cannot be flexible, and I can’t simply replace ar with another letter in the place I need, because that would be a contradiction.
  In the case of language, there are no such restrictions.
