In this post I will examine some words beginning with op-:

The word opy can have several meanings, depending on the reading of the final -y: οπη, οπις, οπος or οπους:

1. ὀπή, ἡ – opening, hole; a mouse’s hole; of holes in the earth; in a door; in a rock; of an orifice in the body; hole in the roof, serving as a chimney; pl., in Archit., holes in the frieze left to receive the beam-ends; of windows, lights in doors; sight;
   
2. ὅπη, adv. – by which way, how, as;
   
3. ὄπῐς, ῐδος, ἡ – of the gods, in bad sense, as always in Hom., ὄπις θεῶν the vengeance or visitation of the gods for transgressing divine laws; in good sense, the care or favour of the gods; of men, the awful regard which men pay to the gods, religious awe, veneration, obedience; pious care or zeal;
   
4. ὀπός – vegetable juice, the milky juice which is drawn from a plant by tapping; esp. the acid juice of the fig-tree, used as rennet for curdling milk;
   
5. ὀπός, gen sg of ὄψ – voice, word;
   
6. ὀπός, gen sg of ὄ ψ=ὄψις – the eye; face;
   
7. Ὀποῦς – an ancient Greek city.
   

The words opor and opos can be equivalent and mean ὀπός.

The word opaiin can be :

• ὀπῶν, gen pl of ὀπή;
  
• ὀπῶν, gen pl of ὀπός;
  
• ὀπῶν, gen pl of ὄψ.
  

The word opain can be :

1. ὀπαῖν, gen/dat dual of ὀπή;
   
2. ὀπήν, acc sg of ὀπή.
   

The word opair is well suited to ὀπαῖς, dat pl of ὀπή.

The word opal can be ὀπαί, sg dat/ pl of ὀπή.

The word opar may well be ὀπᾱ́ς, gen sg dor or acc pl of ὀπή.

The word opol can be a noun or an adverb:

• ὀποί, pl of ὀπός, ὁ;
  
• ὅποι, adv. – to which place, whither.
