The three words in the text, beginning with shalk-, all in language B, could be Greek:
- shalky (2) – skalm9 – σκάλμη – knife, sword or σκαλμός – pin or thole to which the Greek oar was fastened by the τροπωτήρ; =σκαλισμός – hoeing;
- shal,kain (1) – skalmain – σκάλμαιν, gen dual of σκάλμη;
- shalkaiin (1) – skalmaun – σκαλμῶν, gen pl of σκάλμη or of σκαλμός.

Since the beginning of my research I saw in the word You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. of 112r.1 (xar.ally by Takahashi) a Greek word, while assuming that the first letter is lowercase « p » and « l » EVA, with different forms, transcribes the consonants « l » and « k ».

Since then I have changed my mind and consider that « l » EVA can transcribe either « l » or « i ».
According to my current reading, therefore, this word could be read as paral(i)l(i)9:- παραλλάξ – alternately, in tourn, side by side;
- παράλιος =πάραλος – by the sea; of maritime plants, esp. sea-spurge, Euphorbia Paralias;
- παρηλιξ – past one’s prime; past the age-limit of service;
- παρ’ ἄλλη – among others.

Ruby, you've done a lot of work translating many words.
But I'll dare to ask you a few questions:
1). I don't see any visual similarities between Greek writing and Voynichese. You are translating the words in EVA transliteration, but apparently without looking at the manuscript itself.
It's just a simple selection of similar words, which was once done by a professor named Gerard. Can these translations mean anything?
2). How often have you received a truly meaningful result (directly from the text, rather than from captions or rare words)?
3). In your last translation, you defined l as lambda (similar to how EVA l is L). In one of your previous posts, you seem to have defined al or ol as alpha.
The shape of the glyphs is stable throughout the manuscript, which means that there is no room for such ambiguity. Or am I missing something?
4). How did Greek become Voynichese?
In fact, your theory may have potential, particularly your interpretations of the "quirks" on You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. and x as pi. But like any other language theory, I see that there are assumptions and uncertainties. For example, the letter pi can be ch. -

You right. But the peculiarity of language theories is that they are often based on biased assumptions. A proponent of the conditional Turkish theory will focus on confirming his theory, and so will a proponent of the Arabic theory. Each of them is likely to be able to obtain a meaningful result in the desired language.

Could you rephrase your question, please?
l is a small loop that doesn't look anything like a lambda. I haven't seen this type of lambda written in any of the manuscripts (but I might not be looking closely). What are the reasons to believe that l is a lambda? -

I saw no reason not to try.
You can test any other letter in your search.
P.S. I didn't see where I transliterated this word as "arally".
In my work, I use the file "IVTFF Eva- 2.0 M 5# ZL transliteration file, updated from EVMT project # Version 3b of 13/05/2025 #" in which the word being examined is "@185;arally", "xar.ally" is found in Takahashi's file. -

Well, if after examining the 7,000 words I don't get good results, I'll inevitably have to change the letter values.
What glyph would you suggest for lambda?
