So I was wondering the other day whether the folio 116v could possibly represent the ownership of the manuscript, i.e., a German person who owned it and signed it with their name. By total coincidence, I found a 15th century German noble family, the Paxlebens, who lived in a city in Pomerania called Mechetin. While this noble family is extinct today (no more male heirs since a few hundred years), I found references to it in several old German repositories of nobles (Adelsgeschicht):
This is a funny coincidence because in the folio 116v of the VMS we see what appears to be the words "poxleber" and "michiton":
Could it be that "poxleber" is "paxleben" and "michiton" is an old medieval form of today's "mechetin"? Note that the town of Mechetin has had several different names over the years, including Mechtentin, Mechenthin, Miechecino, and more.
In the encyclopedia of extinct noble family crests (yes, such a thing exists), we see this:
Some of these elements remind one of the VMS:
But then again, these are cherry picked, so most likely once again a coincidence.
But a cool one, I might add. -

I could only find Paxleben in the 1836 "You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.". Do you have a source for the 15th century ? -

"Von Paxleben" would indicate it is a place also.

So I assume the town is "Mechenthin", today "Miechęcino" (Poland) -

Hello, I may be completely wrong, but one possible reading I am considering is “pox leber vin on Lucifer” → “Sacrebleu”, to put it very simply.
Perhaps “olasaba8” could be read as “Sabaoth”.
I wonder whether this could possibly relate to some kind of invocation or formula intended to ward off evil.
At this stage, I am only treating this as a hypothesis.
I also seem to make out “Maria” together with a cross.
This made me wonder whether You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. could perhaps have some kind of supplicatory or devotional context.
Another possibility that crossed my mind is that this might be the writing of a physician for a dying “friend”.
Perhaps it could even be recording final words.
Again, this is only a personal hypothesis and I do not want to present it as an identification.
There are a few other words that seem potentially meaningful to me.
For now, I would rather not push the interpretation too far.
I am new here and may easily be misreading the handwriting.
I would be very interested to know what others think.
