    Is the manicule in the solar folio oriented toward a point of interest in the lunar folio as shown by the red line in the attached image?

    I think if the person is pointing, it's not in the direction indicated by the red line. I'd say it's more like this:

    But to me this looks more like a didactic finger gesture and not actually pointing towards anything, because the person is looking the other way.

    I plotted the line as an extension of the arm since the finger gesture is too short for direction identification.

    In medieval manuscripts, it is common for the persons to look straight or to each other while doing something else (even when out stargazing on a balcony).

    Men 'observing' the stars, while at the same time looking at each other.

    The real stars are the friends they made along the way.

    The 72 bumps on the outer ring are interesting too...
    Perhaps there are 73 bumps, like the 73 chapters of You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.?

    The lunar folio could possibly be a depiction of a paper lunar volvelle with a division of the circle into 11 parts.

    The Swiss town You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. and its obsession with the number 11 comes to mind.

    There was Benedictine presence in Solothurn during the 15th century. The clergy followed a modified or adapted version of the Rule of Saint Benedict.

    The specific changes made to the Rule of St. Benedict and how this is related to the number 11 cannot be found in the public domain.

    However, there is a large collection of scanned medieval e-codices from Solothurn worth exploring, see

    Here are some arithmetic relations:

    363 = 3 × 11 × 11 = 11 × (11 + 11 + 11) which is closer to 365 than 360 = 12 × 30, and

    365 days = 5 × 73.

    There is another alternative for the interpretation of the 11 bumps in the lunar folio.

    The 30-year-cycle lunar You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. has 11 leap years in a 30-year cycle.

    "You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view."

    365 = 12 × 29.5 + 11 (or 366 = 12 × 29.5 + 12 in a leap solar year)
