There probably are at least 290 small bumps in the 8th layer from the top of the roundel in the lunar folio (shown as red spots).

In my opinion, there is one less of your little nodules, which you marked with red dots and this is due to the insufficiently precise assignment of the little nodules in the second layer. As I illustrate below, there is at least one less of these nodules. For this reason, there are 189 of these nodules and not 190 - which means that in no way can it be associated with the Menton cycle.
There is still a possible possibility that there are more of these dots in another place - but I did not feel like checking it. Maybe once again, this time more precisely, count the nodules from the second layer from the top of the round circle... because your assumptions are not confirmed by facts.

Thanks, Gregor. You are right and bump #6 in your illustration seems to be a part of the 'fence' of layer #7.
Meanwhile, I found one more small bump (see the attached image), so we are back to 290 bumps in layer #8... for now.

Here I can fully agree with you for a second time that concerning layer #8 "in no way can it be associated with the Menton cycle." The Menton cycle is along the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. and has nothing to do with the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.. By the way, there is no mention in You are not allowed to view links. This is not the same with the Beneventan flying sideways 'm' resembling the Arabic numeral '3'.
In the illustration you provided, the flying 's'-like symbol above 'V' is an abbreviation for 'Versus' but not 'Um', see an example below from "The elements of
abbreviation in medieval Latin paleography" by Adriano Cappelli.

It could be applicable to a limited extent over the bench symbol indeed.
My current line of investigation is that actually many distinct symbols are syllables.
This is possibly combined with an extensive use of specialized mnemonics resulting in short vords.
