Plant name: "OLO-ÇALU"
 
The name of this plant is said in the forms ÇALU and ÇALI in today's Türkiye Turkish.
The word ALA written in the form OLO in front of the word indicates that this plant has a variegated color.

   

According to the "Türkiye Turkish Dialects Dictionary" (a word ÇALU used in the Black Sea Ordu region as ÇALU which same as the VM page like ÇALU.)
"ÇALI/ÇALU" means; [İng. shurb, frutex Alm. Strauch, Busch Fr. arbrisseau, arbuste] 
Perennial plants, 1-3 m tall, with secondary thickening and lignification on their above-ground stems. 
(Toprak üstü gövdelerinde sekonder kalınlaşmanın ve odunlaşmanın olduğu, boyları 1-3 m kadar olan, çok yıllık bitkiler.)
