Personally I find interesting a simple cipher that is included by Hartlieb in his book:
If I understand it correctly, it is a simple substitution cipher that is easy to remember even without a written key because it uses real life objects starting with given letter.
For example when you draw a sword, it means "g" because it is the first letter of "gladius" which is sword in Latin.
In the same way
flower = f (flos)
wheel = r (rota)
8 = o (otto) etc.
Notice that some of these symbols are quite similar to Voynichese symbols, including gallows.
Of course it isn't the key for Voynich. Voynichese seems not to be simple substitution cipher.
But it (or something related) could be some inspiration.
Like others say, Harlieb most probably isn't author of VM. But he seems to share some background with the author.
By the way, you really didn't need to be hotshot scholar to write Voynich. A lot of data observed on these forums suggest that the author could copy images from different sources without any deeper understanding of them. -

Are you sure this image is not a work of generative AI? The city name "TRIDNTUM" doesn't make any sense. And no, leaving out one vowel of the city you are drawing is... improbable.

To me this rather looks like a guy who couldn't remember his Latin vocab and drew a visual lexicon or maybe mnemonics.
If it was a cipher, then one could expect to find an example ciphertext anywhere near it... Look at any crypto manual, they always show how it's done on a short phrase. Ofc, 1400s might have been different.
The circular diagrams appear rather like an attempt in Gematria, assigning a number to each letter in the alphabet. The 6-fold split circle diagrams are saying something about good&evil I think (guod gut / pöß böse). One of the circles (16v) has a days-of-the-week list in it, I think I can recognize Montag, Freitag and Sombtag (Sonntag, Sunday).
Also, I am from Bavaria and there just is no city starting with TRI or DRI that has a castle or palace. Prove me wrong. -

It's actually fascinating, because I fully expected this to be obviously not generated, but when I searched for this I literally could not find this version of this page any earlier than 2023. Pre 2023, I could only find the same page with the header "Trento". However, this is probably just because it was never explicitly tagged that way and/or the page wasn't digitised without paywalls or buying the book.

It was probably just to save space. Anyone who knows Tridentum isnt going to be confused by Tridntum. Check out this sign from the UK, anyone needing to go to this place knows exactly what this name represents:
