  I mean, this isn't exactly a fringe theory. No one is claiming to have solved anything, just sharing resources and ideas. Providing academic sources is more than most internet sleuths care to do, I'm not sure why it's being met with condescension.

  I think that it is being met with fair criticism. Note that this isn't the first time that this hypothesis is being brought forward. In recent years, Kaegan Brewer and Michelle Lewis have done quite a deep study on the same topic, resulting in several peer-reviewed publications, among others at the Voynich conference in 2022.
  
  They also weren't the first, but they undoubtedly had the deepest and most extensive research on this topic.

  I'm fully aware this is not a new theory, just engaging with someone who put their thoughts on the forum and received no response. Nothing about their post glaringly suggests it was written using generative AI to me, and they spent nearly 40 minutes online. 
  
  I don't think there's any reason to criticize me, I simply drew parallels to a paper on 15th century fertility practices (in Northern Italy, where some speculate the manuscript originated). 
  
  This is a very strange welcome to the forum. I suspect people claim who the Voynich is written in Old Turkish using a simple substitution cipher are better received...

  It may not always be clear which is better: getting no response at all, or getting critical questions. 
  
  Both will be disappointing for someone proposing their ideas, but the second is of course much more useful.

  You are aware I am not the OP, yes? I'm not "disappointed" because I didn't propose any theory, I responded to their post with some support. No one claimed to have solved the Voynich. Refer to my comment where I say that this isn't exactly a fringe theory. 
  
  Again, there is zero need for the condescending act. You're not being didactic. Just be a normal person, it will be okay.

  I'm not sure why this is an important detail. Rene accused me of feeling attacked due to people critiquing my theory when I never posited a theory at all and I'm not the OP. That is what that comment was referring to. 
  
  If me asking why there is so much hostility surrounding me sharing an academic source related to the OP's theory is "trying to stir up an argument" then, sure.

  No one is hostile to you sharing an academic source relevant to the OP's theory, and I don't believe anyone accused you of feeling attacked.   There are other interpretations you could make of the posts you reference.  But you are making negative assumptions about people's intentions in this thread and in a way that is derailing it.
