Wait a minute, this has several parallels to rare features of the VMS zodiac:

Superb find JaT and Linda... am doing some homework on this, but think there might be something very interesting here that goes beyond Lauber -

I agree this looks relevant, especially because of Scorpio. A lot of the general types are correct.
At the same time, there is a stylistic difference, so clothing is different, and unfortunately the archer is not fully human. Cancer is also more of a northern-type-abomination than the Lauber type.
Other things are remarkable, sometimes in small details, like the very explicit forking of the bull's tail. -

Just as Mary was not a virgin in the original Hebrew.... According to your favourite LLM:
"The original Hebrew text of Isaiah 7:14 describes a "young woman" ('almah), not a biological "virgin" (for which the Hebrew is betulah).
The discrepancy is the result of a known semantic shift in historical translation. In the 3rd century BCE, Jewish scholars translating the Hebrew text into Greek (the Septuagint) chose the Greek word parthenos to represent 'almah. In the cultural context of antiquity, an unmarried young woman was presumed to be a virgin, making the translation a functional equivalent for its era.
However, parthenos carries a much stronger biological specificity ("virgin") than 'almah. The author of the Gospel of Matthew, writing in Greek, relied on the Septuagint translation. The New Testament author utilized the stricter Greek definition to establish the theological narrative of a virgin birth.
Objectively, the original Hebrew designates a young woman. The specific biological requirement of virginity is absent in the Hebrew source and enters the text solely through the Greek translation layer." -

Indeed. In later imagery horns were replaced by beams of light, still looking like some horns though

Horned Moses is however only a Western thing. He appears in Latin Vulgate translated by Jerome but not in the Orthodox Church (Greek and Old Slavonic Bible versions) where this mistake wasn't made. -

I was checking a couple of entries and realised a bull from Heidelberg, Cod. Pal. germ. 311 had been grossly disserviced by my image cropping. Before, the image only contained the bull, and now i've updated it to include the tree right next to its head.

However, we also missed a different cattle in the book on You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., a "walt rinde". Forest Cow?
This has some improvements on the other taurus, even though it's basically the same drawing.
Firstly, the tree is closer to the head of the bull, and its mouth is open as if about to eat the leaves.
Secondly, this one also includes a penis, placed in the same far-back position as in the VMS.
Third, the terrain is also rockier than the other taurus, with a raised rocky bit just in front of the bulls front legs.
Another thing that i'm not sure of is the feet positioning. I get the feeling that the hooves of this animal fit the same "standing on toes" feel of the VMS. Maybe i'm just seeing things though
