Remember that the hypothesis is not that Voynich literally forged the MS all by himself. We already know that at least 5 hands were involved in writing the VMS. So it could very well be, that a group of art forgers are behind this, maybe commissionned by Voynich, maybe not. Who knows.
The evidence for the forgery hypothesis is the same, whether Voynich "did it", or some other group of people, whether it was in the 20th century or the 18th.
