The 'Chinese' Theory: For and Against

[Jorge_Stolfi]

On f17r, this letter [h?] is written in the same way. It's the same with the letter l.

I still don't know what to think of f17r.  It is similar to You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. in many ways: there was a large water spill along the top margin (apparently from water that fell on top of the book when it was standing on a shelf), there is some Voynichese text, there is a similar "Latin" writing with equally inconsistent letter shapes, there are "Latin" letter combinations "ll" and "lh" that could have been gallows, a "p" that could have been q, ... and the fact that a thousand eyes over 100 years haven't been able to make any sense out of it.

But the problem is that the water spill here seems to be in the wrong place.

Maybe the spill on this page was promptly wiped off because there was writing on the top margin; whereas the "cognate" spills on other pages, including f17v, were allowed to dry by themselves.  That would explain why there is no visible spill boundary here, like one can see on f116v.  That edge line on You are not allowed to view links. All the best, --stolfi
