The thing is, someone some time may luckily get the right plaintext or at least the right partial mapping and it's not impossible that while looking implausible the mapping would actually have some things right. So, why not let the solution run its course and while the solvers are enthusiastic just provide test pieces and see where it goes. I see no reason to skip on these opportunities.
From what is known about the manuscript in general it's obvious that a solution like this shouldn't work. But it's not yet obvious that this solution doesn't work.
I once had a very interesting experience You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., where Claude was able to decode the ciphertext, without fully understanding the principles underlying the cipher, just by pattern matching. Which changed my beliefs regarding solving ciphers. I no longer think that knowing how the cipher works exactly is necessary to decode the plaintext. So it's fully possible that applying wrong principles and working under wrong assumptions someone still will be able to extract some sense from the Voynich manuscript. If, all of a sudden, chol as translated by Thorsten would continue to make some sense over and over again while other word definitions are added, it doesn't matter if the specific phonetic encoding is wrong, we'll still be able to have some plausible word candidates as cribs. Then we'll have to wait for @nablator to figure out the details and the mystery is solved.
