Greetings Stolfi, nice to meet you.
I've been interested in the Voynich manuscript, and had a copy, for about a decade.
(I'm a retired artist and plant ecologist with additional studies in ethnopharmacology - I'm in it for the plants)
I recently took a deeper dive, and I saw this (please excuse the initial image, it was drawn with a mouse);
Note: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. (The yellow circle indicates a hole in the vellum.)
Four separate flower stems emerge from the central stem near the top of the leaves. The four stems support a flower each , four flowers in total.
One can see the swelling of the receptacles has been colored in blue. Above these, still visible despite the blue paint, are remnants of the sepia/brown ink lines that outline the lower halves of the four flowers.
The depiction of the upper half of the flowers is pure speculation on my part, as any trace of original drawing has disappeared over time. We know it existed though, as the text has been left blank in this area (or rather, written around the image).
However, in the theme of pure speculation, it seems that a later re-tracer drew a single, large flower head, clearly visible today.
