Getting close to a source for f85r2
I just saw this thread now.   I am satisfied that the four figures on f85r2 are derived from this allegory.  The woman holding a "stick" and "ring", in particular, cannot be just a meaningless coincidence.

However, it seems that the VMS artist did not really understand the images.  The rosary turned into three connected rings, the jar of urine turned into a perfume bottle...

Maybe he was drawing from memory?

Maybe he was copying from a book in German, but he did not understand German?

And why do the "walking sticks" in those German MS images all have that shape?  Could it have been originally an ax, referring to cutting wood for the fireplace?  Now that we know that the image refers to autumn, rather than winter, "time to chop firewood" would make sense, no?...

Why would she carry a rosary on that particular season?  Because of the All Saints / All Souls holidays?

I must remind everybody that the colors in the VMS are not original.  So no excuse is needed for red lips, red vs blue skullcap, ...

All the best, --stolfi
