I think there are near-exact copies in some places, most obviously the Zodiac figures.

When I said that the author probably had access to other manuscripts or had a photographic memory I exactly meant zodiac signs but couldn't find the examples.
Now I found what I remembered:

I believe the author was looking at some picture similar to these when he drew Gemini. They are too similar, beyond a coincidence.
He was generally a bad artist and it is much easier to paint what you see and not from memory. You don't want to see atrocities that he would create from his head  
But I don't have the final proof of course.
