Nick Pelling's blog has a recent-ish entry about the possibility of f57v being a noctrolabe — a word and concept I learned for the first time reading that blog post. I found this entry helpful and humbling to read, if only as a  demonstration of how biased I was to the idea of a code wheel.
RenegadeHealer,

Here's one, can you explain the correspondence with f57v?

Just a couple of thoughts:
1)
According to LisaFaginDavis, Scribe_1 wrote: Intro, Herbal, You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. and Pharmacological( small plants )

Omitting the Intro then scribe_1 wrote only plant based pages and f57v, so by extension You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. would be related to plants.
Therefore You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. would logically best represent the seasons or more specifically the Solstices and Equinoxes.

The Top and Bottom figures have their arms outstretched in a 'V' shape,
It could be that their arms are pointing to the sunrise and sunset at the Equinoxes,
though then the Left/Right figures should have both arms at 90d pointing East and West for the Solstices but they don't Sad .

For reference:
March equinox        19-21 March
June Solstice          20-22 June
September equinox  21-24 September
December Solstice  20-22 December  mostly on 21stdec

As a side note the March equinox falls in Pisces. Pisces is the 1st sign in the Astrology section.

Edit:
Ah just discovered H in this post mentions the equinoxes and solstices:

2) The 4 x 17 sequences

if the P and F are considered as markers then instead of 1x17 we get [ 8 - P/F - 8 ] or simply 2 x 8.

The observation by Emma May Smith is interesting in this regard. Post #17
<<
1) The m character is immediately before the p and f.
This is important because while p and f are often used at the beginning of paragraphs, m is often at the end of lines.
The writer may have seen some kind of symbolic "break" between the eighth and ninth characters.
>>
and a quick nod to Scarecrow for noting a periodicity of 16.

why is a breaking up one sequence of 17 glyphs into 2 sequences of 8 better ?
Well 8 as a number is much more fun to work with Smile

if the P and F alternated that would fit nicely with equinox-solstice-equinox-solstice but they don't Sad.

That's a very interesting thought. Hadn't thought of looking of it that way before!

One of the most frustrating features of the VMS is that there are many things that should nicely fit, but they don't!

These figures are definitely something special.

Why two of them are turning their backs on us?

What's it that the guy is holding, and why does he narrow one eye when looking at it (or through it)? Some astronomical device, maybe?

What's it that the other guy is pointing at? Something in the sky?

Why the arms outstretched? If one turns his back on the Sun at noon, and outstretches his arms, then his left arm points to the West, and his right arm - to the East (supposing he's in the northern hemisphere).
I would like to invite all those interested in You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. to examine my explanation, interpretation and translation of this page on my blog which I recently posted. Using my translation alphabet, I transcribed the words, read them in Slovenian and translated them into English. You can judge for yourself if the translation corresponds with the image and the central message of the VM.
In my transcription alphabet I explain EVA p and f as SV, CV and ZV (CV sounds a bit like CF). It was probably the authors intention to separate those sounds, but since he was unable to differentiate them in spoken language, he mixed them up and used the glyphs interchangeable, lake German SV, SW, ZV, ZW, SU.

You've got your own thread to push this.  Theories are meant to stay on their own thread.  Otherwise, we'd have everyone who has a theory (and there are many) using every thread to push their theory, and then others will critique the theory, then someone else comes in and says "No, my Icelandic theory says it means this ", and so on and so on...instead of the main topic being discussed.

I feel really unkind having to point this out and I don't mean to be...yet this is now at least the fourth time you've pushed the Slovenian theory in a separate thread to your own.  You can add posts to your own thread if you want to set out how your theory explains the behaviour of gallows glyphs.

Is it generally accepted that dairol is the Pole Star / North Star (Polaris) and that the object that the right-side figure is holding is an Armillary sphere?

(I do not know why it keeps putting in the extra blank lines.)

Nothing is generally accepted. Big Grin

Remember that time I naively proposed that we try to determine "positions we agree on"? An undertaking to be quickly forgotten...
