Thank you, I was worried for a moment that everyone took it as I needed the Voynich-Helpline.
Though I worry whoever manned the Voynich-Helpline would probably be in most need of a helpline themselves.

Mr. Susan, is that you?

It depends on the nature of the solution.  If it is a simple algorithm that maps Voynichese to a meaningful Latin or German or Basque in the standard spelling for the period, I suppose that most Voynichologists will accept it.  And it will instantly drop public interest in the manuscript to the same level as interest in any other medieval manuscript -- that is, practically zero.

But if it is a messy partial solution, that includes a non-standard language like a Basque-Bavarian dialect, with many spelling errors and unidentified abbreviations, with a non-systematic encoding etc -- something tell me that some people will never accept it, even if it is correct and has substantial evidence.  Or even nobody will accept it.  Big Grin

I've wondered before if I solved it and it was just a bunch of uses for plants or whatnot, would I just leave it be. People get much more out of it being unsolved than that. But then again, an army of people being dispersed upon a list like this might not be a bad thing..

I, for one, would kick myself for not thinking of the solution on my own!
