  Actually neither resemble the traditional sign of Cancer -- the crab.  One is two scorpions, the other two crayfish. 
  
  But both are arranged opposite hard-to-tail, like the common depiction of Pisces -- which I guess derives from the traditional Western "reading" of the constellation on the sky.
  
  If the VMS was scribed North of the Alps, the Scribe may have never seen a scorpion.  Could it be that he (or the author of whatever book he used as "inspiration") misinterpreted a double-scorpion sign of Arabic origin as a pair of crayfish?

  Yes, that occurred to me as well. In these Persian and Arabic manuscripts, the sign of Cancer is depicted more like a crab. The key point remains that these images are zoomorphic magical amulets. They look like animals, yet magical symbols are concealed within the body's form, and the arrangement of these symbols corresponds to a numerical grid. I am increasingly entertaining the idea that the Voynich Manuscript is a Hermetic work. Against the backdrop of the Book of Enoch, it integrates various angelic esoteric traditions from Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Egypt, and so on. As I review this now, it becomes clear that these ancient esoteric teachings all share common foundations.

  Hi Radim Dobeš, please forgive me if I've missed anything in the 25 pages of this discussion, but I have to say I have seen nothing that comes remotely close to *proof*. I see an abundance of links between images (so far, as far as I can see, from much later than VMS) which appear to look similar - but no scholar in any discipline could possibly consider similar images as *proof*, especially not when separated by centuries.
  
  So, as you claim you can *prove any part of the Voynich manuscript as a literal and accurate translation of 1 and 2 Enoch*, here's my challenge...
  
  Provide the literal and accurate translation, glyph by glyph and word by word, of this...
  
  
  
  No "this image looks a bit like this one, this might reflect the ideas of whatever...", give us the "literal and accurate translation" that you claim you are able to provide.

  Unfortunately, I have to disappoint you. I can match individual allegories to specific plants, describe the various worlds depicted on the fold-out sheet, describe certain pages showing bathing nymphs, explain some of the astronomical diagrams, and interpret other symbolism; I also know that the First and Second Books of Enoch served as the source material for many (perhaps all) of the illustrations. However, in recent posts, I have also noted that the glyphs are magical symbols (*charakteres*) that no longer retain their original grammar or content. The text you see has undergone a transformation—following the methods used to create magical scrolls and protective seals. It is an angelic script. Individual glyphs are assembled via gematria into sacred words that are rhythmically repeated. The author created a perfect Hermetic document.

  I'll just add that no -- you may speculate that, but you absolutely do not *know* it. Understanding and accepting the difference is a key part of honest academic enquiry.

Unless you are prepared to be honest, and open to challenges of your unsupported assertions, then frankly your arguments are not worth listening to.
  
  I'm really trying to be constructive here, Radim, as I value all amateur research into VMS - but nobody can help if you're not willing to be honest with yourself.

  If it puts your mind at ease, I will remove the statement that isn't true from my old post. I have no problem with that, as it changes nothing about the fact that the VMS contains traces of the Book of Enoch. I still stand by the Enoch connection.
