It was actually common that one man was writing and another dictating.
There is a popular anecdote about Saint Thomas Aquinas that he was dictating four scribes at once:

Saint Thomas Aquinas is one of the greatest theologians in the history of the Church. His mind was so keen that it is reported that he could dictate to four scribes at the same time--each scribe working on a different chapter--picking up exactly where he had left off as he moved from one to the other.
Voynich Manuscript is however a different thing. How do you pronounce this stuff? And if you do it somehow it would be very prone to errors, just like dictating a long list of numbers or chemical formulas.
