  It's interesting to see how hugely it exploded. Even though I've been neglecting my blog for a while now and I've never written about Cheshire, I got more hits today and yesterday than I usually get in a month. Many of those through Voynich Portal. Must be quite the bump in your stats JKP.

  The media tend to feed on sensationalism and mysteries like the Voynich have many readers. It's amazing how easily some people decipher it. Has already happened and will happen again. The human imagination has no limits. In art it is a great source of creation but in science it is often a source of error.

  I think in most cases, the media outlets like to avoid being the "wet blanket" on their own stories.  "Oh, our story was wrong so stop giving us those sweet, sweet views and clicks."

  Because I'm running a business, I constantly have to read press releases in the technology fields, and I've read press releases from UofBristol before, as well.
  
  This didn't feel standard to me. It was hyped up more than usual—a lot of superlatives and over-the-top claims. I really wonder if Cheshire provided information to the news department (or whoever put the final version together) and they went with it. After all, he's the one claiming he came up with the solution in two weeks.

  When it was still online, I was fully under the impression that he had provided the text himself.
  That is what I wrote to a BBC World News reporter as well. They interviewed Lisa Fagin Davis, but I have not seen their report of this interview anywhere so far.

  I thought I had downloaded the initial news release (I wanted to be sure to quote things correctly when I wrote my blog), but I can't find it on my drive. Either I gave it a funny file name or I had opened it in a browser window rather than downloading it. If I find it, I'll post it for reference.
