Could it be that this represents a system for generating music?

The Chinese theory holds that Voynichese is a shorthand system created for the rapid recording of some Asian language. According to Stolphi, the letters a, o, and y can be a tone indicator, but then what are iin and ee?

So yes, they were partially thinking about it...

You read EVA, not the Voynich text. You can read chey, but not chey.

Maybe. There is a hymn called Media Vita. Initially, due to the peculiarities of Gregorian chant, I didn’t understand some of the words. Overall, if you add signs indicating the length of a sound (I, II and III), you might end up with something like:

Media vita in morte suIIImum
QuaeqeIm rimuadiutorem nisi te, DomineII?
Quipropeccatis noIIstris

SaIIIncte Deus
SaIIIncte FoIrtis
SaIIIncte miseri coIIsalvatoIIr
Amare mortiIIIs netradaIIs moIs

Here, it is clearly shown how to place pauses when singing (by ear, the second line is perceived by me as quaeqem, and qui pro peccatis is pronounced as if “in one go”).

The thing is, no one has ever done it like this...

Plus, in this case, as I mentioned earlier, it will be shorthand — a way to quickly write down words.
