In the astronomical part of the Book of Enoch, the paths of celestial bodies are described by complex lunar and solar relations. The Voynich manuscript consistently transcribes the Book of Enoch. The movement of the moon is therefore described using epicycloids (see previous posts) and a mechanism that creates a trajectory shown on folio f68v3. At that time, the most accurate movement of the moon using a mechanical transmission was compiled by Giovanni Dondi. The author used these described mechanisms, including non-circular gear transmissions, in the VM.
