Since Emperor Rudolf II had a particular interest in alchemy, and many alchemists under his patronage, I would not be surprised if hidden alchemical themes existed in the VMS.
Even apothecaries were, in a sense, "pre-chemists", as many of them not only dried and ground herbs, but also distilled medical tinctures. |
