Edit Reason: Clarity

Similar to Virgo.. the bull/Taurus in the manuscript has also a similar posture as his counterpart in the VMS.
EDIT: Removed the images to keep the thread focused on Virgo Member details

It could be a kind of pictorial sequence. The way their hands touch in f72r2 is not unusual. Yes, this manuscript is a very interesting one that is probably worth discussing in the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. thread or its own seperate thread (instead of the virgo specific thread). It has 4-5 sequences/ depictions of each zodiac in various different contexts, and has a mountain of other interesting imagery as well. Member details

Register or Login to view.A couple more Thankyou! I've added the sequences from all 4. Here is the best virgo from them: "Carpentras, Bibliothèque Inguimbertine - 75" An interesting phenomenon I wanted to mention at some point is the frequent usage of virgo as the woman holding libra. One manuscript that you found shows this clearly: Lyon. Bibliothèque municipale, Ms 5154 And a very virgo-like woman is holding the scales in 2 of the others: Narbonne. Trésor de la cathédrale Saint-Just, 2 / Besançon. Bibliothèque municipale, Ms. 140 Sometimes it is a virgo-like woman, but in many many cases it is clearly the same woman, face, and clothing as the virgo in that manuscript. Is it also possible that the VMS artist may have drawn inspiration for the virgo design from a depiction of libra? Member details

This probably comes from star maps, where Libra and Virgo are in close proximity. So an artist can choose to draw Virgo in such a way that she's holding or reaching for the scales.
