There is nobody alive who can be definitively said to be an expert on the Voynich manuscript. This is because everyone knows so little for certain about the manuscript.

  
  I have a bit of a problem with expert as well. I prefer researchers or enthusiasts who enjoy studying the manuscript.

  
  I think is easy to forget how little we all know about this manuscript. I have spent many years being interested in the manuscript, but I certainly don't consider myself an expert as even at my very best guess there is still so much that I don't know about it. I think people can mislead themselves and others that they are an expert on the manuscript, because they have been studying it for a long time.

  There seems to be a lot of various views and theories on this forum, so I'm wondering what "tolerance" actually means here?
  
  Maybe it's partly a culture clash between those who want to discuss and argue as a way of reaching a solution and those who don't really want that for one reason or another.

  I think that it is acceptable to be intolerant of some views. I am pretty intolerant of the position that the Voynich manuscript is a modern fake.
  
  If someone claims that the manuscript is the work of aliens, as Big Jim Finn has argued, should I be tolerant of that theory?
  
  One inevitably thinks that some viewpoints are more worthy of consideration than others.
  
  What I don't like is when individuals appeal to authority on the grounds of their claimed expertise in this manuscript. I encountered a lot of that, especially in my early days researching the manuscript.

  Mark has experienced this with me. For example: If he considers the rosette to be lakes, even though some of them are reservoirs that weren’t built until 1930, I won’t accept that.
  When people claim it comes from Mexico, even though C14 data shows that’s impossible, I’ll let them know.

  You pointed out that two very small and minor lakes in the bottom left hand corner(blink and you could miss seeing them on the rosettes folio) that I highlighted in my theory amongst the very many lakes I pointed to were probably not likely to have been lakes at the time. I didn't argue with that as I thought that inevitably some of the very numerous details that I highlighted in my rosettes were likely to be incorrect and I said as much before you even mentioned those lakes, but I thought it best to come up with the best identification that I could for each detail. In fact, I said here in the forum prior to your comment that it seemed to me almost impossible that every detail that I highlighted was correct.
  I think also it is very difficult to know what all the lakes around Lucerne looked like 600 years ago.
  However, you seem to think that because you spotted 2 very small discrepancies that you somehow disproved my theory.
