Register or Login to view.But that is what made iron-gall ink "the" ink for writing on vellum: unlike other inks, it could not be erased by rubbing, because the polymer was chemically bonded to the leather. To erase the ink once it was set, one had to scrape it off with a blade, together with the top layer of the vellum.
