Thanks for the example, but why do you say "does not appear to be reworked"? I see plenty of examples where a darker stroke was added on top of a fainter one, as in (B.C) below:
The original traces are quite faint in some places, including inside the water stain. See (A). This seems to be an important reference book, so it restoration after damage by wear and water would be expected.
The letters at (D), in particular, must have been retraced over originals that were almost invisible at the time. Check the letters immediately before those two, and consider that they must have been left as they were because they were not as bad as those letters that
did get restored.
