  I agree about the 324 total, but I count 7 red stars in f114r, hence a total of 163 red stars.

  are you sure you mean f114r? I did count 7 red stars there (this is just a copy/paste of the count I did in the Counting Things thread)... Did you mean another folio?

  Hi Anton,
  I believe you are referring to this You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. you made, opening a thread named "The "Recipe" Section"... and yes, our counts do indeed match!
  It is also interesting to me that you note there that:
  
  "I counted 324 stars in total in 23 Recipe section pages. However, 2 folios (=4 pages) are lost, so we must count for that. The mean star count per folio would be 324/23 = 14,09, so the estimation of the total count in the Recipe section would be 14,09*(23+4) = 380 stars."
  
  Of course, that figure is hypothetical rather than something we can count and verify, but I wanted to highlight it here anyway.

  Well, but was is meant by "red" stars? There are stars full-painted red and stars which have only a red circle in the centre. So, full-painted or both?

  Hello Anton,
  Good point, I'll edit my post to replace "red stars" with "stars to which red paint has been applied", and further add a distinction between the fully red ones and those which only have red in their center.

  Strangely, he counts one more star than Anton and I do on EACH page.
  No disrespect to Elmar Vogt intended here, but I am certain he has miscounted: in his post, he develops some very interesting thoughts about the pattern of painted/unpainted stars, and shows the correct number of them, visually, using his "-xO" system. However, his totals for each page are incorrect.
