I'm running some tests on historical reference material. I may have to take back the claim about this NOT specifying reading order. I was able to nearly perfectly recover reading order from Merswin 1352-70 using this technique on a number of different measurements. It doesn't show the same level of horseshoe as voynich, but it does show one. I'll report back after i test a few more.
