The Cosmic Comparison predates this forum. The apparent connection between VMs f68v3, and the cosmic diagrams of BNF Fr. 565 and Harley 334 was first proposed by Ellie Velinska. Her investigations were focused on cosmic diagrams with an *inverted* T/O Earth. The discovery of the cloud band type of cosmic boundary with 43 "nebulations" came a bit later from several sources, but after she had quit VMs research, I believe.

The discovery of the wheel with eight curved spokes apparently comes from the work of David Scheers. He had posted a number of images with radial and spiral structures, including Shirakatsi, but made no specific note of that source, as I recall. Such an early source from Armenia does seem problematic. Neither did these two investigators cross paths with each other, AFAIK.
The combination of these two disparate elements is only found in the VMs cosmic illustration. The recognition of disparate elements intentionally combined should open a new perspective on VMs interpretation.
The Armenian connection is not as difficult as it may seem. The Genoese were in the Black Sea in the 1300s, and the Venetians were close behind. Shirakatsi was a noted scholar, and his works had spread to Trebizond and Byzantium. As the Byzantine situation worsened, diplomats traveled to Rome and also to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy. Even after the fall of Byzantium (1453), Trebizond continued several more years. There would certainly have been adequate incentives and opportunities for persons and books to travel west during the first half of the 15th Century.
