Maybe the author(s) made himself his own inks, parchment and quills for ritual purposes, with the expected results from a freshman in the arts. Iirc, for instance You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. (but I guess they're much later) insist on the 'wizard' to make himself all his own instruments and ingredients. Just a funny thought!
