Regarding the reference issue briefly touched above. Some Zodiac charts have explicit reference point, some don't. Some have nymphs facing the way opposite to others ("opposition nymphs" for brevity). Here's the complete picture:

Pisces: no explicit reference. One opposition nymph in the outer ring. One opposition nymph in the inner ring. Inner and outer rings face opposite sides.

Dark Aries: no explicit reference. One opposition nymph in the outer ring. One opposition nymph in the inner ring. Inner and outer rings face opposite sides.


Light Aries: explicit reference in both rings. All nymphs face leftwards


Light Taurus: no explicit reference. All nymphs face leftwards


Dark Taurus: no explicit reference. All nymphs face leftwards


Gemini: explicit reference in inner ring. All nymphs face leftwards


Cancer: explicit reference in inner and middle rings. All nymphs face leftwards with the exception of one opposition nymph in the middle ring.


Leo: no explicit reference. All nymphs face leftwards


Virgo: no explicit reference. All nymphs face leftwards


Libra: explicit reference in the inner ring. All nymphs face leftwards


Scorpio: no explicit reference. All nymphs face leftwards


Sagittarius: explicit reference in the inner ring. All nymphs face leftwards

Since there are charts with neither explicit references nor opposition nymphs, this means that opposition nymphs are not meant as reference points. Notably, all opposition nymphs are in the first half of the year. Interestingly, the creators began with opposite directions for outer and inner rings but then abandoned the idea.
