Diane,
what I find puzzling about the Voynich stars is that their number of points vary between 6 and 9, as if either:
- someone did not care about the exact number of points OR
- the number of points is significant and adds meaning
I noticed that the Egyptian stars are very formal in their having five points. That is why I find an altered version of Seshat symbolism more promising, since she would account for seven and eight pointed stars and a connecting line. It would also allow for the nymphs to be read as years rather than actual stars.
But both of those are far from perfect matches. I've also noticed the 8-pointed Phoenician star (Ishtar) but I wasn't sure how to relate it to the Voynich imagery. Do you think that is the one we see in the month roundels? I wouldn't object
