Quire 13

It would be cool if it also could be shown to be a procedure to produce Aqua vitae, and especially if you ended up with the same page order as i do, because the double entendre would be just perfect.

Thanks Linda, and all the best to you too !

Unfortunately, so far I only have a description in text form for making aqua vitae. Recently Marco has linked me a text You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.. But this is of limited help in concretely reconstructing a distillation process ( too much latin text to translate  )
It would be nice to have an illustration showing the individual steps, including the addition of substances. An overview of distillation I know so far only from the "Liber de arte distillandi".

However, individual apparatuses in Q13 can be easily recognized and assigned, for example You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.. But a complete representation of the whole process is, as I said, very difficult. In addition, one cannot be sure about the order of the folios in Q13.

edit:
Distillation of alcohol (aqua vitae). Distillation in an alembic over furnace. The distillate was discharged by spouting into an 'arbeit', a bathtub with cold water, and was collected in the vessel in the right.
