Morten St George Theory

[Morten St. George]

The Cathars did not all emigrate to North America. Catharism continued to exist in many parts of Europe until the mid-15th century. Even if it were Cathars that created the VMS (which is perfectly possible at the time), it doesn't mean it has anything to do with North America.

JP, I have read widely on the Cathars and for all practical purposes they were wiped out in the 13th century by a combination of crusading armies and Inquisition torture chambers. There are reports that someone in southern France claimed to be a Cathar in the early 14th century and was promptly executed. And Wikipedia thinks Cathars continued to survive in northern Italy until the early 14th century.

As far as I know, no one but you thinks that "Catharism continued to exist in many parts of Europe until the mid-15th century." For that remark, I suggest you check with other sources for verification.

Note that I never claimed that the entire Cathar sect migrated to America. My theory only maintains that a small group of Cathar women, to escape torture and certain death in Europe, crossed the Atlantic taking with them the sacred texts of their religion.
