I agree with your new statement that only the position for single words is predictable. The words of the VMS are indeed encoding in some way there position.
Your reference to SVO demonstrates that there is no misunderstanding about what a sequence is. A sequence in language means a sequence of words like in phrases as "if I had" or "if we had". Therefore your statement that if single words are predictable the same must be true for sequences is simply wrong.
