Complete aside, but I do wonder whether Luxembourg might have something to say..

Michel Pauly's 2020 article, based on the actual edited municipal accounts, identifies the following spellings for March in records dated 1448–1449 and 1451–1452:

martius marciůs marcyo marty meirtz mertz
