SCA University of Atlantia: The Voynich Manuscript
If you are an active participant in the SCA as well as have an interest in the Voynich Manuscript, this class may be for you.
For those of you who aren't active participants in the SCA, I don't think I could explain it any better than they do on their You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.:
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an inclusive community pursuing research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture. The lives of participants are enriched as we gain knowledge of history through activities, demonstrations, and events.
You can also read more about the organization on their You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.. Those who are familiar with the SCA are probably most aware of their in person events. But did you know they also have their own universities? I didn't...until now. The SCA's structure is divided into several fictitious (except to SCA members!) kingdoms - think of them as regional chapters of their organization. I don't know how many of them do but at least some of the kingdoms have their own universities, which have their own course catalogs, which may be in person or online.
These are not like other universities you may be familiar with.
One of the SCA kingdoms that has its own university is the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., which was created in 1981 as an off-shoot of the Kingdom of the East and its territory covers the IRL areas Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, Georgia (Augusta), and Washington, D.C. The upcoming session (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.) for the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. runs February 3-4, 2024 and this course is one of them.
