Do you mean this roof ?
It looks like the side view of this object (in principle), obviously not a cross.
The roof of the watch tower has a trapezoid shape with two metal prongs at the top. There are not crosses, nor the rusters which were characteristic for the Protestant churches. They can still be seen on at least two buildings in Slovenia, on the medieval castle of the Counts of Celje, and on Žiče Charterhouse.[attachment=8788][attachment=8789]

I think the side of it reminded me of these, its Lichfield cathedral from where I grew up, they are newer additions but the design/idea of cross shaped ones is obviously much older. Probably just seeing too much detail and whoever did it did a quick cross shape

(offtopic)
The resemblance to the "rosette towers" is striking.

The question now is whether these towers were typical for this region or whether they also existed elsewhere.

This architectural style first appeared in the 12th century. Presumably France after the first crusades. Probably adopted from Roman buildings. An extension of the cast-iron bay windows above the gates.
First in wood, later also in stone.

These trapezoid towers are typical for quite a large region, including parts of (modern) Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. This is only approximate.
There is an overlap with the area where swallow-tailed crenellations can be found, and this overlap is probably quite limited, but I don't think that one should try to argue that the MS originates from this overlap area.

I agree with Rene right away.
It takes a bit more to determine the origin of the VM.
This type of defence technique is widespread. Just think of the Black Sea.

These were certainly set up by the Genoese. And if there are no dovetail battlements, then there never were any.

I would only look for trapezoidal-roofed towers that also have the characteristic two "metal prongs" at the top. A search for overlaps with swallowtail battlements would then make sense. In any case, I don't see what speaks against it.
