As a child I really loved fun houses and optical illusions (I still do).

Today, the time change.
Why is the time changed by one hour in summer?
A few things you need to know first.
Heat causes expansion.
Now that it is slowly becoming summer and warmer, the continents are expanding. As a result, the different time zones no longer coincide. To compensate for this, the time is corrected.
And as you would expect, towards winter when it gets colder again and the continents shrink again, the old time can be restored.
Everything clear?

I was once in a luxury restaurant in Tailand.
I asked the chef if my kakalaks were really fresh.
Of course they were!
When I looked at my plate, they were all gone.
All clear?

I find the evolution of humor in society quite interesting. When I was little, there was this set of jokes that were passed on through oral tradition. Nobody really knew where they came from.
We'd come back from school and ask "did you know the one about..." and then my parents would say "oh, that's an old one, it was already told when we were young".
That kind of joke isn't really told anymore these days. Or at least not as broadly. I can't remember the last time someone told me a "preexisting" joke with a setup and a punchline.
I wonder why that is the case. To some extent, loss of local social cohesion in favor of internet-specific phenomena. A quick turnover of specific and visual humor (memes).
Also, I guess these jokes were most attractive when they sought the borders of the permissible and broke taboos. Obscenities, racism, sexism.... So maybe the decline of "the joke" follows societal evolutions.
Just some thoughts... I don't know what this thread is about :p

The thread was about optical illusion.

Today: Why can't the Voynich manuscript puzzle be solved with a PC?
The answer is simple. The problem lies in the dual system with which the PC communicates.
Dual system = 1 and 0 = power, or no power.
Just when the PC wants to explain the solution to the puzzle to you, it has no power.
Everything clear?

Insomnia today.
Restlessness doesn't just happen. Consider several facts.
The earth has a circumference of 40,000 kilometres. Spread over 24 hours, that's about 1,660 kilometres per hour = 1,660 km/h.
Now it's not hard to believe that you can't sleep peacefully when you're travelling that fast. Or can you sleep peacefully in an aeroplane?
It used to be better when the sun was still revolving around the earth.
PS: To those who are afraid of flying, I'm sorry if they panic in bed now.
