The Question of Blame
Did your partner leave you?
If the cockroaches and bedbugs are moving out too, then it’s clearly your fault.

Today: The Search for Raw Materials

When I sift through the litter in a cat box, I’m not looking for silicon (even if it’s there).

Silicon: A component of explosives used in the automotive industry to trigger airbags.

It’s actually a miracle that a cat box has never exploded. And just imagine—right in the middle of doing your business
....   Big Grin
P.S.:
Why did the Russians send a dog (Leika) into space instead of a cat?
Simply because the cat's carrier posed too great a risk of explosion.  Big Grin

I think you got the wrong chemistry there.

But just so that you won't fall asleep easily at night, the mixture of oxygen, nitrogen, and water vapor in the atmosphere is thermodynamically unstable. Those substances should react spontaneously to form nitric acid HNO3, with release of energy.  That does not happen only because the N2 molecule is extremely hard to crack.  But if someone somewhere found a suitable catalyst...

Silizium (Silicium) wird in der Sprengstofftechnik hauptsächlich in zwei Formen genutzt: als hochexplosiver Siliziumschwamm (Nano-Sprengstoff) und als Zusatzstoff in militärischen Sprengmischungen. Silicon is used in explosives technology primarily in two forms: as highly explosive silicon sponge (nano-explosive) and as an additive in military explosive mixtures. [1, 2, 3]

Very tangential, but in a novel of John W. Campbell, I think You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view., the evil guys develop 'the catalyst' and set Earth atmosphere on fire. The novel itself is rather bad, be warned  Big Grin

Sorry.

These days, even when two people do the same thing, it’s still not quite the same.
For example: In Thailand, soup made from boiled swallow nests is an expensive delicacy.
If I make soup from chicken nests, no one wants it.
Maybe it’s just a PR issue.
Let’s just ask our foreign correspondent.

I don't eat that :-)
It's more Chinese than Thai.

Agreed on your chicken nest soup :-)
