Thank you, Koen!
I would love to read the text associated with this illustration, but I have been unable to identify the ms it comes from and no similar image appears in the other copies I have examined.
My impression is that the colored bands might represent the planets, as in this illustration from You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view.: the text could then be about the astrological influences in plant gathering (a frequent theme in late medieval herbals, e.g.  the Alchemical Herbal). But I am speculating...

I didn't have a good chance to look at this when Marco first posted it but when I look at it now, the "rainbow" seems to be in a different style from the rest of the drawing. The bottom parts are fairly crisp and precise (in terms of line and shape), the colored part looks like a different illustrator. This would not be unusual, sometimes a whole team would work on a single manuscript, sometimes one person drew the people and someone else drew the animals, but it just struck me that the grass/plants/landscape and the colored cloud-shape are quite different.
I've lost track of what I've posted and what I intended to post. So much of a backlog. If I posted this in another thread, I apologize, but if not, this was something that caught my attention a couple of years ago. It might not mean anything, but I wanted to get it out there just in case it might inspire some ideas.

Note how the nymph on the right is blushing and the "rainbow" is red on the top and white on the bottom.

This is from Ovid's Metamorphoses:

The goddess said ‘She is here!’ and, relinquishing the old woman’s form, revealed Pallas Minerva. The nymphs and the Phrygian women worshipped her godhead: the girl alone remained unafraid, yet she did blush, as the sky is accustomed to redden when Aurora first stirs, and, after a while, to whiten at the sun from the east.
The blushing nymph paired with the red band in the sky is remarkable indeed!

Do you think it can have any relevance to Prytaneion or Prytanis ? Because I'm getting meanings from first lines like daughter of prytanee prepares the bile. I'm doubting radio carbon.
Pardis, when you quote a previous post, you can delete the parts that are not relevant and substitute ellipses (...) so we know something has been removed.

No, i was talking about Spanish rivers being the so called Rainbows, i don't see the connection to what you are saying at all? Perhaps you meant to ask Koen, Pallas Minerva seeming to have a better connection.

But then, i do not know where you are getting the word Prytanee from, nor why it makes you doubt radio carbon. Especially since the daughter prepares the bile.
Linda, sorry if it was confusing.
The first word could have change the structure as a پری pari +..( fairy +...) or as پریتpryt (a part ofپریتان prytanee) which made me question if you are saying rainbows and other places are relevant then it may have some connection to the word indicating ancient Athen./ It doesn't necessary mean the radio carbon has such a big error but that it may be the only copy left generation after generation. Although not convincing.

JKP, thanks. I edited the long quote.
Pardis, we have an unwritten rule on the forum that posts about a specific theory (i.e. readings of the text) should be limited to one thread about that theory. Otherwise, as you see, things can get confusing. Also, as there are dozens of people with as many different ways to read the VM, it would be impossible to have a discussion where everyone posts their own reading in each thread. Do feel free to share your readings, but from now on please do so in a thread about your theory.
