  Actually yes, but the problem is that we don't meet it as such - at least not too often . The examples of yours are of short vertical lines, not of tall ones.
  
  One explanation though of why the vertical in gallows is tall is that it is deliberately made tall in gallows so as the "gallows coverage" can be enforced (I believe I already proposed that somewhere in the Forum). So, the vertical is natively short, but it is made tall in the gallows specifically for the "gallows coverage" to be possible.
  
  But the standalone short vertical is also extremely rare, I suppose. This speaks against it being a "basic" shape. A shape that is extremely rare is not a "basic" one.

  I perform the promise.
  Three upper, example are the consequence, what is happening when writing of the gallows "p" with bench.
  In the manuscript there is a ban on the sequence of characters "eph" (at the beginning, middle and end of a word). He extends to all the other "gallows".

  Explanation of such a ban the following;
  If you apply my new transcription of "hyphen -", then if the quick letter of gallows on the ground floor, it can turn into a "a capital gallows" and instead of the word "ep-eol" get the word "e-peol".
  In order to avoid confusion, the gallows are sent to the second floor over the "e".
  It can be explained similarly gallows "t" c "e" between the legs. Figure 4.  
  That the gallows over "c" should be read "cp" character sequence can be seen in the new example of Figure 1. (Other explanation I can not see.)
  Here, above the symbol "c" written code 192 v101 (slash + bracket).

  Wladimir, I have not yet answered to any of your posts, but in my opinion they are of great interest.
  
  I think they have many different implications, but I can't claim that I understand them all. At least not yet.
  
  A simple first point is that no transcription alphabet can properly represent all the features of the text in the MS.

  in the interest of thread legibility and FYI:
  when you quote a post in your reply, you can delete parts of it (manually, using the delete key on your keyboard) so that you only quote the part you are actually replying to, without reposting pictures that take up lots of space on the thread.

  Yes I back this, one's consistently quoting images totally discourages users to read those posts.
