  It's Augsburg, early 15th Century herbal and bestiary. .. I have looked at my own archive and Google and it hasn't turned up... It was owned by a prominent Artz/apothecary family whose work later appeared in a Hartlieb..
  
  c. 1403–1409: Produced in southern Germany on paper; some later additions use paper dated 1428–1436.
  1407: A note records a visit by Anzinus, son of Jörg Tömlinger, a Munich apothecary, placing the manuscript in a Munich pharmaceutical milieu.
  Contains extensive medical, pharmaceutical and herbal material, including more than 200 plant images, followed by an illustrated bestiary of about 73 animal species.
  By the 15th century it belonged to the Benedictine abbey of St Mang at Füssen, confirmed by an ownership inscription.
  After the abbey was secularised in 1803, its library passed to the Oettingen-Wallerstein collection.
  In 1980 Bavaria acquired that library; the manuscript is now Universitätsbibliothek Augsburg, Cod. II.1.2° 109.
  
  I can't find any information about who created it...

  Nice thing. A lot of pages in the beginning are text only but pictures begin later so use thumbnails or download complete .pdf to get to them easily.
  
  By the way, is it only my impression or is this guy quite similar to Voynich Sagittarius?  
  
     
  
  (I recall reading somewhere that Voynich Sagittarius is a German hunter type)

  Yes, there's some nice stuff in there and it's a fairly rare German herbal.. at least compared to Italy. I was hoping the bull and rams would be a bit closer to Voynich but except for the colouring, I'm not sure . Koen may have a different view.. the horns are different though... And on the herbals, there's a few that I'd say were consistent with Voynich, at least the non "fantasy" ones.. on the archer, the big difference is he has a bow and arrow whereas ours has a crossbow.. but you're right that it localises to Germany..

  For me this is the closest match to Voynich Sagittarius that I have ever seen.
  If you know a better one, let me know 
  
  The round hat with a tail, wide sleaves, pleated* male tunic , everything fits.
  
  * If you suck at naming clothes features just like I do, then know that pleated clothing is a type of clothing with "folds" or "pleats", where the cloth is on design "bent" in several places:
  
  
  I believe it is a case of Voynich Sagittarius.

  This is a very good match too.
  
  Yes, in VM, it seems to be a fish devouring a woman (who is strangely careless about it) so my bet was it was inspired by the Bibiblical prophet Jonah:
     
  
  But the shape of this mermaid fits very well, even the part of fish mouth could be originally, well ... something else 
     
  
  For me these are very strong links, comparable to Taccola!
  I would risk saying that the Voynich artist saw Cod. II.1.2° 109 or its close "brother".

  Thank you for that interesting detail about the mermaid. It seems indeed that this might somehow be relevant to the VMS. There seems to be a similar use of characters here, too. Take a look at what appears to be the use of "benches" (comparison to the VMS on the right):
  
     
  
  There are other similarities, too many to list.
  
  PS. How common is it in latin, to start a word with an "8"?
