Or maybe he was just familiar with Latin? If I was making up a script or cypher, I expect I'd base it on scripts/languages I already knew (perhaps even subconsciously in parts) rather than inventing something completely from scratch.

Just to make sure we're all on the same page (pun intended), I am referring to the leaf as a whole. The verso side has more and clearer text:

In particular, note the "maria" on the left side of the fifth line from the bottom. I consider the entire leaf, recto and verso, the reference. -

The "o" and "a" in this "orantem" show one the problems in Voynich transliterations: a more-or-less straight second stroke does not identify an "a". Many EVA-a in transliterations should be EVA-o. -

The archetypes for EVA o and a are less distinct than the ones in that sample though, and there's almost a complete gradient between them. TT once wrote that he wondered whether they're supposed to be distinct forms at all. (I'm sure they are, given their complementary distribution, but him writing this shows how tricky it is). -

Yeah, sure, final "s" can be a bit more than minim-height.
But that clip you posted uses a different "font" from the other example (besides being German instead of Latin). Note that the "d" is shorter than "h"-height, and its shape is simpler than the "d" of the other. And does not match the supposed "d" of You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. "oladabas".
(In case you haven't noticed, Cod. Sang 1369 is not a book, but a collection of loose leaves that were recovered from other books where they had been used as end-leaves and cover fillers. Thus each folio is normally in different handwriting and possibly from a different century.)

Yes, there are different writing styles. The point is simply to show that the 8 can sometimes be written larger. As I mentioned earlier, there weren’t really any fixed rules. There are all kinds of peculiarities in the scripts. So the height of the 8 is not a counterargument against an “s” in f116.
