"Rainbow" may be a conventional name for those elements, but it may be worth observing that they were not meant to be actual rainbows.

Login to view. seems o have "water" flowing out the left end and feeding Miss Otedy's pool and tub, but the right end is cut flat and hard to understand otherwise. (But it may have been [self-censored].) And so is the scalloped mass above it. Could that mass be water, and the "rainbow" be a
dam, I mean, a dam?
Beware that the jury is still out on whether the colors are contemporary with the text, or were applied much later by someone who could not read the text and knew less about the figures than we do. (I myself am fairly convinced of the latter.)
