  Indeed, the point here is that four centuries later, in the early 15th century, the unknown scribes likely used elements of the Beneventan script to create the cipher.

  Very unlikely. The U is not specifically Beneventan. The only similarity is the "re" that looks almost like k but the r is lower.

  Very unlikely. The U is not specifically Beneventan. The only similarity is the "re" that looks almost like k but the r is lower.

  The Beneventan script was still used in isolated locations during the 15th century.
  Also, the shape of the Beneventan letter 't' (with bow) could possibly be related to the creation of the bench and the benched gallows.

  The Latin text of the You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. starts with "OBSCULTA, o fili, præcepta magistri..." and the shield represents the letter 'O' in "Obsculta" (Listen).

  Attached is one more example of the sideways 'm' (here written at the end of a word) in Beneventan script, see also Fig. 106 in the following source:

  It seems that the second red embellishment in You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. depicts three Beneventan letters, a two-letter ligature and the sideways 'm' in the middle.

  Here is a Beneventan depiction of a symbol combination (in Fig. 200 of the dissertation of Rozana Vojvoda, described as a "g" with the suprascript "o" for ergo) having some similarity (but not identical) with the first symbol in the red embellishment on the right-hand side of You are not allowed to view links.   The easily identifiable sideways 'm' is also depicted.
  This fragment originates from the monastery of St. Mary on the island of Mljet.
