The c-shape-with-tail is highly variable. Here are some examples but they don't even come close to illustrating the amount of variation:

You might notice that on You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. in this chart, there are several where the tail is added imperfectly.

Also, note that the one on the bottom row from You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login to view. is a long-c. There are quite a few of these (although not in this chart).
